THE HOUSE |
|
The manor house of Candili was bought in the early 19th century by a pioneering British agriculturist called Edward Noel. It sits on elevated ground overlooking the village of Prokopi on one side, and the fields and mountains of Evia on the other. The main house is at one end of a large courtyard and flanked by converted stables containing bedrooms upstairs and sitting rooms downstairs. At the opposite end of the courtyard is a large stone building, the upstairs of which has been converted into a beautiful, wooden-floored lecture room. The extensive gardens contain a newly-built swimming pool, a tree-house and a small sports field. Candili is within 15-minute drive of the coast. |
